ABOUT THE JUROR: TED LEE HADFIELD

Ted Lee Hadfield received his BFA from Colorado State University and his MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art. He was invited to his first group show, “6 Michigan Artists” at the Detroit Institute of Art (DIA) in 1981. He has received two Michigan Council for the Arts “Creative Artists Grants” and is in several private, corporate and Museum collections, and has exhibited at: Cranbrook Museum of Art, Midland Center for the Arts, Colorado State University, Mott Foundation, AT&T, University of Michigan, Frankel Foundation for the Arts, Dow Automotive, William Beaumont Hospital, Herman Miller Corporation, Meadowbrook Art Gallery, J. In 1981 Hadfield founded the Farmington Hills company, Artpack Services Inc., and has successfully operated as President and CEO for over 38 years. Artpack Services Inc. has a 26,000 square foot facility set up just to provide services for the arts, from shipping Van Gogh’s for the DIA, to installing Freight Train, a 16-ton box car sculpture for Yoko Ono on the lawn of the DIA. Hadfield and Artpack Services Inc. has traveled several times to Asia and South America designing, shipping and setting up exhibitions and on the last visit to Japan, designed and fabricated a small exhibition of Netsuke’s from the Imperial Prince’s private collection. Hadfield and all 21 of Artpack Services employees are committed to furthering the education and understanding regarding the enormous benefits of being involved in the arts and the creative process by dedicating company time and services to organizations in need.

Along with joining the Farmington Area Arts Commission (FAAC) and being a Co-Chair for ArtWorks Detroit, Hadfield has maintained an operating artist’s studio at his private residence in Farmington Hills for over 30 years and continues to exhibit around the Country.
